When I first heard of JR, it immediately felt as though he was a legend whose story had been passed down around the fire for generations.

Some time later, I was talking with my friend Dustin about making something together, and I told him what I’d heard. He was just as intrigued as I was. Wouldn’t you know, a few hours later, I would unexpectedly meet JR for the first time.

Shortly thereafter, he invited me over to his barn and I arrived with a proper peace offering (Budweiser). After sitting on the porch for who knows how long, and hearing about how people hit him up all the time for photo and video shoots, I somehow convinced him to let me try something a little different.

Filmed over the duration of one 15-hour day on 16mm with a few friends, this story highlights a day in the life of JR Root – a third generation horse behaviorist and professional cowboy in Leiper’s Fork, TN.
